Springtime in the Eastern Mojave

Yesterday, I headed out to the Rainbow Gardens Geological Preserve, that rock hounder’s paradise between Las Vegas and Lake Mead. Rainbow Gardens was named for its colorful rock strata, but for a few fleeting days in spring, wildflowers add even more brilliance to the display. With a little help from Vivaldi and Animoto.com, I made a music video out of the photos I took of the desert in bloom and a surprisingly attractive rusty old muffler.
